National American - March 5th 1936
This is a example of a newspaper from the American National-Socialist Party. This group promised American Indians among many things, that they would free them from reservations and place Jews in reservations instead. The emblem of the tiny American National Socialist Party was "an American Indian, arm outstretched in salute poised against a black swastika." (see below).[1] Many white organizations in the United States shamelessly used the Native American as a symbol for their causes. Hitler gave his own account of using the swastika.. "Actually, a dentist from Starnberg did deliver a design that was not bad after all, and, incidentally, was quite close to my own, having only the one fault that a swastika with curved legs was composed into a white disk."[2] The counterclockwise swastika adopted by the Nazis is regarded as symbolizing movement "away from the Godhead," and has become a contemporary motif of evil, while the clockwise swastika represents movement towards God and suggests a cosmic rhythm in tune with the Universe.[3] Third Reich Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels predicted Indians would revolt rather than fight Germany because the Swastika was similar to an Indian mystical bird symbol depicting good luck. In a 1942 interview one Celilo Indian said the following...
"My grandparents fought against the white man. They were defending their homes. In many respects we have been treated badly. In this land. which was once ours, we are poor. Many people treat us like outcasts and inferiors. Yet our conditions have slowly been improved. The reservation schools are good. We are trained for trades and fanning. The government defends our rights. We know that under Nazism we would have no tights at all. We are not Aryans, and we should he used as slaves." [4]
The following column will be devoted each week to one of the
political points which the American National-Socialist Party will work in
its efforts to awaken the American people into a unified nation of a one-
minded people, that is an American people.
Today, as a liberal government throws the American Nation deeper, and deeper into despair the shortcomings as a lair-making and and administrative body, people are wondering what is to become of the American Nation. Conditions such as are being forced upon us cannot continue to grow worse day by day without the people demanding to know just what is in store for them tomorrow.
At the present moment everything points toward a worse condition than exists already, and the administration, in its dealings, grows more and more heed-less of the American people's welfare.
To Americans who still have some love for their country, the coming of a "popular" front government only spells disaster, for it not the "popular" front based upon Marxian theories which tend to split the nation still wider apart and prepare for the eventual Sovietizing of our America.
